Our environmental initiatives focus on minimizing our negative impact both locally and globally, while at the same time enhancing our competitiveness. We recognize that our employees play a crucial role in achieving our environmental objectives. By investing in our employees and actively involving them in our sustainability journey we are committed to achieving our long-term environmental objectives.
We are dedicated to developing and selling products with minimal carbon and ecological footprints. To achieve this, we actively collaborate with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to reduce the footprint through the entire life cycle.
Our environmental policy and guidelines form the basis for our objectives and actions, ensuring a structured and systematic approach to environmental considerations. To manage our environmental risks and determine the most critical topics for us, we regularly perform a double materiality analysis.
Extent
This policy applies to all aspects of Suzuki Garphyttan's global operations. It also covers our efforts to influence and collaborate with other actors in our value chain, though it does not cover their operations.
The scope of the policy and which environmental aspects it addresses are described below.
Climate
We want to reduce our climate impact as much as possible and ultimately achieve net zero emissions in our operations. As an energy-intensive operation, we continually work to develop our facilities and processes to increase energy efficiency and the reduce the emissions associated with the energy we use in appropriate ways.
We prioritize low-emission transport options for incoming materials and outgoing products whenever possible.
Emissions
We are dedicated to reducing emissions from our operations to both air and water. To maintain stringent control over our emissions and ensure compliance with permitted levels, we continuously measure and monitor emissions at appropriate places and frequency.
Chemicals
All chemicals used within the company must be listed in our chemical handling system to minimize risks and ensure legal compliance. Chemicals must be clearly labelled, handled and used in accordance with their Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and relevant regulations.
We are committed to eliminating non-environmentally friendly elements from our operations and replacing hazardous substances with less hazardous alternatives. To ensure safety and environmental protection, chemicals must be stored within containment systems.
Resource use & waste
We use our raw materials efficiently which means that as big proportion as possible of purchased materials must be delivered as products. We use raw materials and produce products that are recyclable and work to enhancing the circularity of our products and extending the life of the resources.
We strive to reduce waste within our operations by promoting reuse and recycling of materials wherever feasible. We sort scrap and other waste fractions to facilitate recycling and preserve the value of these resources.
Responsible
All employees at Suzuki Garphyttan have an important role in upholding this policy.
The global management is accountable for integrating the environmental policy into the business strategy, setting environmental objectives for the company and for providing the necessary resources for policy implementation at all levels.
The site management is responsible for specifying the global objectives to site-specific objectives, disseminate the policy and ensuring that employees receive the resources and knowledge required to meet policy requirements.
Environmental coordinators oversee compliance and follow-up of the environmental policy at each site and to delegate tasks to managers and employees.
Each employee is responsible for complying with the environmental policy and integrating environmental considerations into their daily work and decisions.
Follow-up
We ensure compliance with the policy and evaluate it is impact through internal audits and relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), that shows trends and outcomes of our environmental efforts.
Planning, follow-up, and reporting of environmental data and KPIs are managed through our sustainability management system, Stratsys. Annually, the results are consolidated and presented in our sustainability report.
